In 2018 when the 40th anniversary of China’s reform and opening, in order to extend the scope of opening-up, on May 11, Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China Comprehensive Department invited Zhizhong Yao, deputy director of the Institute of World Economics and Politics Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Jianqu, vice president of China Development Institute, Danhui Yang, research fellow at the Institute of Industrial Economics of CASS, Yuze Luo, head of the Institute of International Economics of DRC, Changyong Yang, associate research fellow at Institute of International Economics of Academy of Macroeconomic Research of NDRC to organize the symposium on China’s reform and opening. Prof. Shunqi Ge of NKIIE was invited to attend this symposium.
Shijia Chu, the bureau chief of China Comprehensive Department hosted the conference. He presented the background, experience, challenges, and strategy of extending the scope of China’s opening-up and urged experts to summarize the achievement and experience since the inauguration of the policy of reform and opening up, especially since the 18th National Congress, and to provide insight into the new situation of expending the scope of opening-up.
Prof. Shunqi Ge proposed a number of initiatives regarding the new pattern of opening-up and its further extension. His speech also detailed the problems concerning ‘one belt on road’ initiative, COCZ, bi-directional investment, bi-directional merchandize trade, service trade, and modern open-source carrier.
The vice inspector Tao Yang of China Comprehensive Department also attended this symposium.
