Recently, the doctoral dissertation "Trade Liberalization, Heterogeneity and Enterprise Dynamics: An Empirical Study of Chinese Manufacturing Enterprises" of Associate Professor Qilin Mao from the Institute of International Economics (Supervisor: Professor Sheng Bin) won the 2016 " Chinese Economics Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award".
The "Chinese Economics Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award" was established and organized by the Beijing Contemporary Economics Foundation. The subjects of this evaluation are PhD dissertation in economics from 2010 to 2015 in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan. The award is recommended by the dean of each school of economics from nearly 50 schools of economics and 4 research institutes of prestigious universities, and then selected by an expert review committee through multiple rounds of voting. The establishment of the award is aimed at commending and rewarding doctoral research results with innovative contributions in the field of economic theory, and to cultivate and encourage more rising stars in the field of economics.
From 2008 to 2013, Dr. Qilin Mao studied at the master's and doctoral levels in the World Economics major at the Institute of International Economics, under the supervision of Professor Dianchun Jiang and Professor Bin Sheng. He stayed on to teach after obtaining a PhD in economics in June 2013, and is currently an associate professor and master supervisor at the Institute of International Economics of Nankai University. Professor Mao has published as the first author/corresponding author more than 30 papers in China Economic Review, Economic Research Journal (2 articles), Management World (4 articles), Quarterly Journal of Economics (4 articles), World Economy (7 articles), Journal of Financial Research (4 articles) and other important domestic and foreign journals. He also is served as anonymous referee of Economic Research Journal, Management World, Quarterly Journal of Economics, World Economy, Journal of Financial Research, China Industrial Economics and other important academic journals. He has presided over one National Natural Science Foundation of China Youth Project and one Central University Special Fund Project; one of his paper was selected as one of the TOP10 Best Chinese Papers on International Investment in the 2015 Volume of the World Economic Yearbook, and more than 10 papers were selected by the Xinhua Digest, Chinese Social Science Digest, NPC photocopies and other long-form reprints; He won the Tianjin Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award, Tianjin Social Science Outstanding Achievement Award, Zijie An International Trade Research Award, the Ministry of Education's Doctoral New Scholar Award, and many other provincial and ministerial awards.
