On May 5th, 2020, the conference on liberal arts base construction and research innovation was held at the Haibing building of the Balitai campus of Nankai University. Vice President Jun Chen attended the conference. The conference was hosted by the head of Department of Social Sciences, and the heads of the liberal arts bases of Nankai, the deans and secretaries of the schools of humanities and social sciences all gave speeches on how to strengthen the base construction, discipline development, research innovation, resource integration, talent team construction, and think tank construction, etc. They also analyzed the current problems and challenges so as to put forward constructive opinions and suggestions on the future development of Nankai’s liberal arts. Everyone agreed that this meeting is of great significance. It is not only a review and summary of the past construction process and experience, but also forward-looking thinking and strategic planning for the future. Director Guoming Xian and Assistant Director Bing Yan of the Center for Transnationals’ Studies attended the meeting and addressed a speech on the construction of the base.
